Committee of Safety is warned in Cambridge.

June 15, 1775

The committee receives a report that the British plan to march on, capture, and fortify Bunker Hill and Dorchester Heights, and attack rebel positions in Roxbury. The British troops are to march on June 18, 1775. The local committee is able to keep the intelligence report secret only because one of its members, the traitor Dr. Benjamin Church, is in Philadelphia at this time. The committee orders Col. William Prescott to fortify Bunker Hill in Charlestown on June 16, 1775.*
